Assist. dr Tomi Kovačević, MD, PhD, graduated as a Palliative Medicine Specialist at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade, Serbia (2017) and as a Specialist of Applied Studies in Engineering in Management at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad, Serbia (2019) and received PhD in Public Health from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Novi Sad, Serbia (2020). He continued his professional training in the field of Palliative Medicine through education at University centers in Toronto (Canada), Leuven (Belgium), London (UK), Berlin and Cologne (Germany), after which he graduated from the European Academy for Palliative Care (Leadership) – EQF level 7 (2022). Dr Kovačević’s scientific contribution is reflected trough the authorship and co-authorship of a numerous scientific papers, international collaborations including the EU-funded SmokeFreeBrain and FAIR4Helath and PROGRAMMING COST action as well as trough awards by MASCC, ESMO and IASLC associations. Currently he is a member of the scientific research team of the University Hospital in Seville, Spain and national and international professional associations (UPS, UBS, SLD, EAPC, ESMO, IASLC, MASCC, SASCC, ERS, etc.). As an invited lecturer on the topics Palliative Care, Pain Management and Communication in Health he is an active participant in numerous professional meetings in the country and abroad. Dr Kovačević presently works as a Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Novi Sad, Serbia and as Head of Palliative Care Unit at the Institute for Pulmonary Diseases of Vojvodina, Sremska Kamenica, Serbia.
